Hi, I’m Billy.
How I help businesses automate their work, and how I keep up with what’s new in AI.
I connect creativity, code, and AI to build practical systems for real workflows—from small-business reporting to creative production.

How I help businesses automate their work, and how I keep up with what’s new in AI.
Systems that connect information, reduce manual work, and help people make decisions.
A custom AI-assisted financial reporting system brings QuickBooks, a web platform without an API, Slack, and AI-classified job photos into one database. A custom dashboard provides reports, analysis, and recommendations grounded in the business’s goals.
I built this tool for our Not for Nerds AI community. It is backed by a curated database of AI releases relevant to the community. Search in plain English or use filters to find tools for a specific need.
Creative instincts paired with code, automation, and production experience.
Built After Effects automation tools that cut file-packaging time by about 80% and are used by creative teams around 25 times per month.
A one-minute cut of my video editing, motion design, and AI imagery work for brands and creative teams (June 2025).
A few video examples from our Not for Nerds AI community.
“Your level of innovation and delivery is awesome. The sheer number of POC’s you have delivered and the significant time savings they’ve created are very valuable.”
“Billy has been my go-to Super 8 wedding video editor across multiple projects. His speed, attention to detail, and creative eye are second to none.”
I moved to New Zealand in 2014 to start my first business. I grew it and sold it three years later. After two years in Southeast Asia, where I developed my videography, editing, and coding skills, I returned to New Zealand to study and teach CGI before moving into social media advertising.
Over four years at Shuttlerock, I crafted ad creative for major brands, led creative sessions with clients, built tools and tutorials for a team of 200+ designers, and launched our AI-imagery offering. When existing tools couldn’t produce hundreds of video variations, I built the automation that could. That mix of creative and technical work still shapes how I build: understand the process, experiment, and make the result useful.
Today, I bring that experience to AI and automation projects and to Not for Nerds, the community I co-founded to help non-technical people make sense of AI. I’m a US/New Zealand dual citizen based in Nelson, open to roles across the US, NZ, and Australia, remote or relocating.
Away from work, I perform, host open-mic nights, play soccer and disc golf, cook New Orleans food with my wife, and dream up the next business idea.
I’m open to applied AI and automation opportunities.
